Richmond, VA (January 29, 2026) – A two-vehicle crash involving a state-operated vehicle took place early Wednesday morning along the southbound lanes of I-95 near Exit 73 at Maury St in Richmond. The collision was reported around 5:20 a.m. on the right shoulder of the interstate. Virginia State Police were already present and confirmed that one person sustained back pain as a result of the incident. Emergency crews evaluated the individual at the scene.
The crash did not result in lane closures, and traffic continued to flow despite the response effort. Richmond Fire & EMS assisted in providing medical attention and assessing the scene alongside state police. Authorities have not released the identities of those involved, and it’s still unclear whether the person who reported back pain required hospital transport.
Investigators are reviewing the details to determine what led to the crash and whether any citations will be issued. The presence of a state vehicle in the collision adds complexity to the investigation, which remains ongoing as officials gather witness statements.
