Richmond, VA (May 7, 2025) – A traffic accident with reported injuries occurred Monday evening on the Boulevard Bridge, which links Richmond’s Carillon and Byrd Park neighborhoods. The collision was reported around 7:42 p.m., involving at least two vehicles near the center of the bridge span.
Emergency crews from Richmond Fire and Rescue, along with EMS and police units, were dispatched to the location and worked quickly to assist the injured. One or more people required medical attention at the scene, with at least one individual transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment. The full extent of the injuries has not yet been made public.
The Boulevard Bridge was partially shut down to allow emergency crews to manage the scene and remove damaged vehicles from the roadway. Due to the bridge’s narrow lanes and evening traffic, visibility and congestion may have been contributing factors. Investigators are reviewing possible causes, including distraction or reduced visibility conditions that often affect bridge travel after sunset.
Authorities have not issued citations or released the names of those involved. Richmond Police are continuing to investigate the incident and ask that anyone with information or who may have witnessed the crash come forward.
Our thoughts are with the injured individuals, and we wish them a complete and speedy recovery.
