Norfolk, VA (January 27, 2026) – A two-vehicle collision near the STEM Academy in Norfolk led to an unusual rescue Monday morning after one car left the roadway and became entangled in tree limbs. The accident occurred just after 7:25 a.m. near the intersection of Campostella Rd and Olivet Dr.
Multiple emergency units, including Battalion One, Engine Eight, Ladder Eight, and Rescue One, arrived on scene following reports that a blue vehicle had struck a tree after a possible collision. First responders found one occupant temporarily trapped inside the vehicle—not by damage from the crash, but by overhanging branches that obstructed the exit. Rescue crews carefully removed the limbs to free the individual from the vehicle.
Fortunately, the person did not report any injuries, though medics conducted a full on-site evaluation as a precaution. Most emergency units cleared the scene by 7:30 a.m., with only Engine Eight and medical personnel remaining to finalize their response. Authorities have not released further information on the second vehicle or what caused the incident, and no other injuries were reported.
We’re grateful that no serious injuries occurred and applaud the swift efforts of Norfolk’s emergency teams.
