Fairfax County, VA (December 18, 2025) – A high-speed multi-vehicle collision on Richmond Hwy in Fairfax County turned deadly Monday morning, claiming the life of a taxi driver and injuring three others. The accident occurred in the Fair Haven area, specifically in the 6300 block of Richmond Hwy, causing a major disruption to northbound traffic between Beacon Hill Rd and North King Hwy.
According to the Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD), the crash began when a taxi traveling at an excessive speed rear-ended a van. The force of the impact propelled the van forward into the back of a Metrobus that had stopped at a red light. The taxi driver, an adult male whose identity has not yet been made public, was pronounced dead at the scene. Inside the van, two individuals suffered life-threatening injuries and were rushed to a local hospital. A third passenger in the van sustained less severe injuries and is expected to recover.
The Metrobus involved had five occupants, including the driver, but none of them reported any injuries. Investigators with the department’s crash reconstruction team remained on-site for several hours to analyze the scene and gather footage from the Metrobus to aid in understanding how the collision unfolded.
Captain Jesse Katzman with FCPD expressed the department’s sorrow over the tragic loss, noting the emotional toll such incidents take on families and communities. Authorities continue their investigation into the exact circumstances and speed involved in the deadly crash.
