Norfolk, VA (September 25, 2025) – A 14-year-old boy riding a scooter was injured Wednesday morning after being hit by a vehicle near the intersection of S Main St and E Berkley Ave. The accident occurred just before the start of the school day and drew a prompt response from Norfolk Police and emergency medical personnel.
First responders arrived to find the teen with a leg injury. Medics provided on-site care before transporting him to a nearby hospital for further treatment. Officials later confirmed that the injuries were minor, and the boy is expected to make a full recovery.
The crash happened in a heavily trafficked area close to residential homes and school routes, raising heightened concerns about roadway safety for children during early morning hours. Authorities have not yet shared specifics about the vehicle involved or the sequence of events leading to the collision. An investigation remains ongoing, and it is unclear whether any charges or citations will be issued.
Traffic was briefly disrupted while crews worked to assist the injured and secure the intersection. The roadway has since been reopened to normal traffic flow.
We are thankful the teen is expected to recover fully and send our best wishes to him and his family during the healing process.
