Campbell County, VA (September 25, 2025) – A serious late-night collision involving a tractor-trailer and a pickup truck resulted in two individuals being hospitalized on Tuesday on U.S. 29 near English Tavern Rd. Virginia State Police and area fire crews responded to the crash scene, which occurred close to Hyland Heights Baptist Church.
Three people were involved in the crash, which took place in the northbound lanes. Emergency teams found both vehicles with significant damage. Two of the occupants required hospital transport due to injuries sustained in the impact, while the third was either treated at the scene or did not require hospitalization. Authorities have not yet released updates on the conditions of those taken for further care.
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) assisted by implementing temporary lane closures to facilitate debris removal and manage traffic flow safely. Cleanup and roadway recovery efforts continued into the night before the highway was fully reopened.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Given the involvement of a commercial truck and a pickup, officials are examining all possible contributing factors, including speed, visibility, and roadway conditions. This section of U.S. 29 is heavily used by commercial and through traffic, and accidents in the area often present added risks due to high speeds and vehicle sizes.
We extend our best wishes to those injured in the crash and thank the first responders for their swift and professional efforts.
