
Portsmouth, VA (September 19, 2025) – A Churchland High School employee tragically lost their life after being struck by a vehicle in a pedestrian-involved crash that occurred Wednesday morning in Portsmouth.
The collision took place on September 17, though the precise location has not yet been released by officials. Portsmouth Police reported that the individual, a member of the school’s staff, was on foot when they were hit. It is still unclear whether the incident occurred in a crosswalk, on the roadside, or within a parking lot.
Medical responders quickly arrived and provided emergency aid at the scene before transporting the victim to a nearby hospital. Despite their efforts, the injuries proved fatal, and the individual later died. Authorities have yet to confirm whether the driver remained on scene or if charges are under consideration as the investigation continues.
The Portsmouth Police Department is still reviewing the circumstances surrounding the crash and has encouraged witnesses or anyone with information to come forward to assist in the ongoing inquiry.
